Good points…

There are lots of freeware out there and available for personal use covering all types of computer functions.

The corporate versions of all those programs come for a fee.

All technicians need to follow the proper guidelines.

So France’s national police gave up on Windows and went with Ubuntu for all their computer systems. Not a surprise to me since the French are good at surrendering.

Seriously, that is one big feather in the cap for open-source software, for a national governmental agency to switch to one and away from the Microsoft juggernaut.

I use OpenOffice.org, Audacity, Inkscape and GIMPshop on my PC and am very happy with how they work so well.

Versioning is a major feature that Mozy lacks. However, the unlimited backup space at $4.95 / month (or less) is a great selling point.

While lots of people are talking about Dropbox, SugarSync and SpiderOak are both worthy competitors. Especially that Dropbox files must be saved in a single location, whereas when using SpiderOak, any folder can be flagged for syncing.
