Google’s new Chrome OS is coming to a Netbook near you sometime before the end of this year.
So what in the world is the Chrome OS? Check out the video below for details.

I really believe Chrome will give both Apple and Microsoft a run for the money. The cloud is the future and Google is certainly in the driver seat when it comes to cloud based apps. I can’t wait to see how this all plays out. Android on my phone and my eReader, Google Chrome on my Netbook, and maybe even an iPad killer Chrome/Android tablet waiting in the wings. Its going to a good year for technology and it’s a great time to be a geek

A quick, totally biased blurb about my New Droid Incredible on day 4.

The latest greatest Verizon Smart-phone arrived at my house Wednesday afternoon. After unboxing and then impatiently waiting for the battery light to turn green, my love for all things Google continued. The Incredible is made by HTC and it’s running the Google Android OS with HTC Sense. The combination of “Android” and “Sense” makes the Incredible amazingly powerful yet simple to use. The phone comes with a crystal clear 3.7” OLED touch screen thats very responsive. The speed and control of movement are beyond what I expected and better than what I have experienced on the iPhone. Speaking of the iPhone…I need to “rant” about the Appstore vs Market. The included Android apps covered all the bases with support for my Gmail, Facebook, Twitter and Youtube right out of the box. Any reports about apps being limited in the Android Market are a complete joke. Apple advertisements talk about the “number of available apps”… but does that number really matter? There is a huge difference between the number of applications that are available and the ability to find the apps that you need. Anything that I looked for in the Android Market was both readily available and easy to install with only a few clicks.

You can see my installed apps and the apps that others have installed by going to http://www.appbrain.com/

My Installed Apps are displayed below. Click on any of the apps to see details about the app.

scccpj’s Android apps on AppBrain

Look for a new post about the “Incredible” and the “Android OS” in the coming days. Please post any questions or comments.

You can order the phone on the Verizon site at http://phones.verizonwireless.com/htc/incredible/

Google has opened another front in its fight with Microsoft. The new Free and Open Google Chrome Operating System was announced last night on the official Google Blog According to Google “netbooks running Google Chrome OS will be available for consumers in the second half of 2010″

The idea behind this new OS is to take advantage of the cloud through an Operating System designed from the ground up for the cloud.

From the Google Blog

“Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS. We’re designing the OS to be fast and lightweight, to start up and get you onto the web in a few seconds. The user interface is minimal to stay out of your way, and most of the user experience takes place on the web. And as we did for the Google Chrome browser, we are going back to the basics and completely redesigning the underlying security architecture of the OS so that users don’t have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates. It should just work.”

If Google succeeds in producing this new lightweight ultra secure OS, the writing might be on the wall for that old shrink wrapped OS from Redmond.

Good luck Google…Keep it Free and Open.

The problem has been resolved and the Internet is now only partly dangerous or mostly safe depending on how you look at it. Have fun browsing and just remember to be careful out there, the web can be a very scary place.

Check out the official Google link below that goes into detail about the “/” that made the Internet stand still…..well at least Google search.
